STEM (K-12)

Cypress Christian School students have opportunities K-12 to explore STEM programs. Critical thinking and problem-solving weave throughout all subjects and are then given an outlet to practice these skills in STEM classes and electives.

The K-12 STEM programs give our students exposure and chances to excel in many areas. As we focus on a CCS graduating senior, the Cypress Christian School classes and electives have fostered:
Projects to encourage problem-solving and critical thinking
Real world examples to apply to future careers
Microsoft Office practice and applications
Calculator and coding challenges
Design-process activities in all things STEM
Computer literacy
Presentation skills
STEM Endorsement

Cypress Christian School is proud to offer a Project Lead the Way (PLTW) curriculum in elementary. PLTW is used to immerse students in energized, hands-on activities, projects and problems that build upon each other and relate to the real world. Students experience integrated learning that blends computer science, engineering, science and more. Throughout the modules, even the youngest learners apply their math and English language arts (ELA) skills, learn science to standards and adopt skills that are foundational across disciplines. Through PLTW modules, students are reminded of God’s unique design of the world and how all peoples are created in the image of God. Our STEM teachers link biblical truths to each module to point students towards a relationship with the One, true God.

Middle school and high school classes provide hands-on labs and electives to enhance our STEM program. The high school engineering and computer science programs have continued to grow and excel. The senior capstone engineering class has a chance each year to use their education and hearts to serve Jesus as they spend the spring semester working with local charity, Reach Unlimited, to provide a product to better a life in their community.
