Middle School STEM

Cypress Christian School students have opportunities K-12 to explore STEM programs. Critical thinking and problem-solving weave throughout all subjects and are then given an outlet to practice these skills in STEM classes and electives. The K-12 STEM programs give our students exposure and chances to excel in many areas.

Cypress Christian middle school students build on the STEM foundation that was set for them in elementary school. All core classes of science, math, history and ELA incorporate Microsoft Office into the curriculum in different ways. Each grade level has a different opportunity for a research project with a presentation component. Throughout middle school, students are developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills that will help them in their high school classes as well as their future endeavors outside of school.

Middle School STEM Elective

In middle school, the STEM elective fosters meaningful connections in various areas of science. Tomorrow’s scientists and engineers research, collaborate and innovate as they explore the world of science. Examples of projects include designing a solar oven, making and testing homemade glue, building a Rube Goldberg machine and designing a simple contraption for a classic egg drop competition.

Middle School Computer Discoveries Elective

This elective course takes a wide lens on computer science by covering topics such as problem solving, programming, physical computing, user-centered design and data, while inspiring students as they build their own websites, apps, animations, games and physical computing systems.
