2020 Second-Generation Warriors!

Second-Generation Warriors!

“There is a new Warrior in town,” says alumnus Justin Kirtley (’04) and his wife/former CCS teacher, Natalie Kirtley. Their daughter Carlee Kirtley started third grade at Cypress Christian School this year, and they are so excited! “Today marks a very exciting day! We made the decision to switch to CCS this year. It has been on our hearts for a while now and, honestly, it felt so right when we called and toured the school. We know so many wonderful people there from our time at CCS. It seriously feels like home. We felt so much peace dropping her off.”

“We finally have all three kids in school,” says alumnus Michael Patterson (’99) and wife Tiffany when Cypress Christian School Warriors returned to campus for the new school year. “It was bittersweet seeing our little ‘TBug’ march off to class. We are praying for continued health in body and mind for all three of them. So thankful we finally made it to this day.” Tannith is a kindergartener, Brittany is a freshman and Jacob is a junior at CCS.

Nathaniel Hull, son of Jeff Hull and alumna Catrina Beaty Hull (’09), started kindergarten at Cypress Christian School this year. Catrina posted the following on social media, “There was a lot of traffic this morning getting to school, and Nathaniel excitedly kept saying, ‘Come on cars! Get out of the way, I have to get to kindergarten!’” They are thankful there are now two generations of Warriors in their family.

CCS first-grader Jonathan Moore is the son of alumnus Jeremy Moore and his wife Tristan, and is also the grandson of former CCS Admissions Director and alumni parent Vicki Moore and her husband Terry. Jeremy and Tristan were so happy for Jonathan to return to CCS for a second year. Tristan wrote, “First day of school 2020! We are so excited for Jonathan as he starts first grade today. There were some nerves but lots of prayer and excitement, too. We pray he has a wonderful school year.”

Violet Poage is the daughter of alumna Lindsay Moon Poage (’05) and husband Carter. Lindsay posted the following message to Violet to celebrate a new CCS school year! “Happy first day of school Violet! This year looks different, and you’ve already said it was an amazing first day. I’m so proud of you! You are marvelous, darling.”

Rachel Jasper Heller (’02) and husband Chase Heller (’02) are thankful for their returning Lady Warriors, Camryn in third grade and Hayley in first grade. “Can’t believe we are already in our fourth year at CCS! We are incredibly thankful that our daughters are able to attend in person to attain the high quality of both academic and biblical education that CCS provides.”

Christina Whitsitt Zapico attended CCS from 1990-1992 for her kindergarten and first grade years and has joined the CCS staff as elementary technology teacher. She earned a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University and holds both state and ACSI certification for elementary education. She taught for five years in Cy-Fair ISD where she incorporated the use of interactive smart boards, document cameras, laptops and more into daily classroom instruction. Most recently, she served on the staff of Bayou City Fellowship as the Littles Director. Christina is glad to be returning to her CCS “roots,” and is looking forward to combining godly instruction with the use of technology. Christina and her husband James are thankful their children, Chloe (second grade) and David (first grade), are also CCS Warriors.
