Alumni Pastors Attend CCS Pastor Appreciation Luncheon

October is Pastor Appreciation Month, and we are grateful for our alumni pastors’ service to our community. On October 17, CCS hosted a Pastor Appreciation Luncheon. Alumni Pastors Cody Chaffin (‘13) and Evan Weppler (‘07) were in attendance among a total of 53 pastors from 32 area churches. Cody is the Student Discipleship Minister at Cy-Fair Christian Church, and Evan is the Elementary Children’s Pastor at Cypress Bible Church.

Cody, Evan and our guest pastors were greeted by the CCS students who invited them, and they enjoyed a short time visiting together. Following a quick photo with students, the pastors were ushered into the East Gym Lobby for a meal and a message from Executive Director Dr. Jeff Potts. It was a privilege to honor these two alumni and their fellow area pastors who have dedicated their lives to the service of the Lord through serving their churches and our community.

Note: We’d like to also like to recognize alumnus Sarah Mathewes (’06) who is the Children’s & Christian Education Pastor at Houston First Church of God.

Thank you, pastors, for all you do!

CyChristian Homecoming 2019

This year’s Warrior Alumni Homecoming event was held on Friday, October 11, and was the most well-attended in the history of our school. Former students and their families (105+) braved the cold to “come home to CCS!” We really enjoyed having these special Warriors back on campus – getting to visit with them, getting lots of hugs, meeting their friends and family members, serving them delicious food and awarding gift cards and prizes. Thanks to everyone who attended and thanks to our dedicated volunteers including alumni parent Shannon Moore who took our annual alumni photo. #OnceAWarriorAlwaysAWarrior

CCS to Honor Alumni Veterans in Roll of Honor/Veterans Day Assembly

We are honored to partner with our alumni to recognize their military service and the service of their loved ones. Alumni veterans and their families are invited to the Veterans Day Assembly on Monday, November 11, 2019, at 9 a.m. in the East Gym, and invited to submit names to be recognized in a printed Roll of Honor at the assembly. The deadline to submit names is Wednesday, November 6. Click here to confirm information submitted last year or submit new names/information for the 2019 Roll of Honor.

CCS is pleased to announce that Chuck Macune, United States Military Academy at West Point graduate, will address CCS students, employees, families, veterans and guests to help us pay tribute to those who have served in our armed forces. Click here to read speaker biography.

To help ensure that we set aside seating for your family and guests, please RSVP by Thursday, November 7.

We are thankful for our alumni veterans!

Nolan Galbreath (’16) is a senior at Belmont University in Nashville, TN, studying mass communications and sports media. He is on the Dean’s List and will graduate in May 2020.

This past summer, he interned with the broadcast team of the Nashville Soccer Club which led to a part-time job for the remainder of the 2019 season. He is also gaining experience in broadcasting by calling play-by-play on ESPN+ for the Belmont Bruins volleyball and soccer teams. Nolan, along with Christian Kaposy and Stephen Boero, created the John Overton Sports Network in 2018, a non-profit organization that broadcasts the high school’s football and basketball games over the internet on meridix.com. Nolan provides color commentary while Christian and Stephen cover play-by-play action and sideline reporting.

Nolan was recently notified that he would be involved in the media coverage of the final 2020 Presidential Debate to be held at Belmont University.

Nolan attends Otter Creek Church in Brentwood, TN.

Daniel Macune (’19) is a Cadet Fourth Class (or plebe) at West Point Military Academy working toward a major in either computer science, electrical engineering or systems engineering. He is in Company D2 (“Go, Dragons!”) and is on the company combatives team. Daniel says, “Cadet Basic Training, this past summer, was an interesting experience, to say the least, but I made many great friends and memories along the way. I enjoy the people in my company including Randy Hahn (the cousin of fellow CCS graduates Jacob Hall ’19 and Jason Hall ’19) and Charlie Mills(’19). We often go to church, dinner and the rock wall together. I can’t believe it’s only been four months. Go, Army! Beat, Navy!” Daniel is shown with his parents, Melissa and Chuck Macune.
