Senior Abigail Sanders Advances to Auction Level at Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo School Art Contest

On Tuesday, the CCS Academic Team began the first round of practice for the state preliminary tests. Official prelim testing will take place upon return from spring break with the top three scoring students in each category advancing to state. Team members have been preparing by attending study sessions during Tuesday and Thursday lunches since October, as well as dedicating time at home. Categories in which students have chosen to compete are:

  • Lincoln-Douglas Debate (Resolved: In matters of foreign policy, the United States ought to value universal human rights over economic interests.)
  • Social Studies (Topic: The Modern Olympic Movement and the Politics of Sport)
  • Literary Criticism (The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Sonnets from the Portuguese and Other Poems by Elizabeth Barret Browning, and The Tragedy of McBeth by William Shakespeare)
  • Ready Writing (Expository writing based on a passage provided)
  • Spanish (Listening, reading and writing)
  • TAPPS Math (Ninth and 10th grade)
  • Science (Biology, chemistry and physics combined)

This week in chapel, middle and high school students had the unique opportunity to hear the amazing story of Mr. Al Jowdy. Mr. Jowdy was born in San Antonio in 1927.
The Warrior Swim Team competed in the TAPPS State Swim Meet on Wednesday, February 14, in San Antonio. The Warriors were represented by 16 athletes and competed in four relay events and six individual events.

The campus will reopen on Monday, July 15.

Power has been restored, and the campus will reopen on Monday, July 15, with regular summer hours and activities.
